The transfusion service plays an important role in the diagnosis, management and prevention of hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN).  During this webinar, we will review pathophysiology of HDFN and the various contributions the transfusion service makes to the care of this patient population.

Course Objectives

  • Review pathophysiology of hemolytic disease of the fetus/newborn (HDFN)
  • Review testing algorithms for a mother at risk for HDFN
  • Identify two ways the transfusion service can play a role in prevention of HDFN
  • Outline the treatment options for the fetus and newborn with HDFN
