To:         California Blood Bank Society

From:    Dan Stobbe, MD, Chair, Central California Blood Center Board of Directors

I am pleased to announce, following a nationwide search in the fields of healthcare, blood services and business, Christopher Staub, MT (ASCP) SBB, has been selected to lead the Central California Blood Center as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective August 1, 2017.

Mr. Staub brings to the Blood Center more than 30 years of progressive leadership in hospitals and blood centers, with diverse scientific, business and management experience in blood banking and health care.  He is actively involved in blood banking associations and serves on the Board of Directors of America‚Äôs Blood Centers.  He is published and a frequent speaker before professional, scientific and technical audiences.

Our search included excellent candidates with local, national and international experience. We are pleased that our selection comes from inside our organization.

Chris came to the Central California Blood Center in January 2016 as Chief Operations Officer.   In 18 months he has lead innovative and progressive change to benefit patients, area hospitals and transfusion services, blood donors and our personnel.  His scientific and technical background, coupled with his administrative and leadership experience, make Chris the right person to lead the Central California Blood Center in challenging times for healthcare and blood services providers.

We thank Dean Eller, President and CEO since 1999 and retiring effective July 31st, for his passion, commitment and stewardship. Our Blood Center is financially healthy and well positioned to serve area hospitals and their patients.

We congratulate Chris Staub on his selection as President and CEO and wish him much success as he leads the Central California Blood Center into the future.
